Email Reader for the Blind is a device which reads Gmail messages out loud. It works similarly to a typical answering machine, reading new messages, allowing to skip, erase, and backtrack. Also, the device plays NPR Hourly News and gives Time and Weather information.
The prototype is implemented with Raspberry Pi. It incorporates a text-to-speech software and a multi-threaded engine implemented in Python.
The code is available for anyone who would like to implement or improve this device.
